Sensors and microchips can make life easier. They can turn on a sprinkler when it gets hot, or start a coffeemaker in the morning. Sensors detect a change, like the time on a clock reaching a preset point. Microchips use that information to make something happen, like turning on the coffeemaker, or in this case feeding a hungry goldfish. In FISH FEEDER, a peg board lets visitors arrange toys (trains and see-saws and cuckoo clocks) in succession so they’re positioned to tip over a spoonfull of fish food. A touch screen (lower photo) lets visitors connect sound and proximity sensors to the toys to make them move, and feed the fish.
At The Tech Museum, learning is FUN!
