The Lewis and Clark Expedition
is America’s great odyssey. It inspires nostalgia
for herds of buffalo measured in miles; curiosity about
spending a winter with the Mandan Indians before the
scourge of small pox; and pure wonder about how it felt
to wander in the wilderness of 1803.
Thanks to journals kept by Lewis, Clark and others, the truth
is as compelling as the myths. Lewis' dark moods, the near
starvation diet of camas root and dog, and simply not knowing
if they would all survive, make a tremendous page-turner.
Follow in the explorers' footsteps by visiting the Lewis and
Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center near Great
Falls, Montana. An audio program, produced by Harvest Moon
Studio, brings this epic journey to life. |
