Becoming a Newsmaker: How to Work With the News Media

Community Sleep Awareness Public Relations
Every day, reporters across the country are looking for good stories to share with their readers. Your organization can be a valuable partner with NSF in delivering vital sleep information, tools and tips to people in your community during NSAW and throughout the year.

If you are new to working with the media, be sure to read “Year-Round Resources Guide—Section One: Becoming a Newsmaker” in the printed toolkit or on this CD-ROM.

If you’re not familiar with the newspapers or radio and television stations in your area, go on the Internet and visit www.newslink.org to research news organizations by city and state. This site often includes a link to the organization’s Web site where you can find phone numbers and e-mail addresses for your media list.
