One of the most effective ways of communicating your message
about the importance of healthy sleep is by making a personal
presentation before an audience. NSF has provided several presentations
at no cost that you can use to promote healthy sleep in your
community. Begin by reading "Making Presentations that
Count...Not Sheep, But Sleep" in the Year-Round Resources
Guide or view it here.
This section includes information to help you prepare and organize
your presentation, as well as overcoming the fear of appearing
before an audience.
These PowerPoint™ presentations have been reviewed by sleep
scientists working with the National Sleep Foundation. The
slides in the presentations should not be changed. If
you add your own slides, they should not alter the focus or
integrity of the existing presentation.
Note: You will need Microsoft PowerPoint™ software loaded
on your computer to view these presentations. If it isn’t
already part of your operating system, you may want to purchase
it separately from a computer store.
Five different PowerPoint™ presentations are featured
in this section. The topics address general sleep
issues such as "What
You Need to Know about Sleep Problems/Disorders"
or “The
Basics of Sleep”
Do you plan to address young people or their parents? Consider
selecting “The
Dangers of Drowsy Driving” presentation
for an audience
of high school students, or “Establishing
Healthy Sleep Habits in Children” for parents of newborns
through adolescents. And
if your audience is primarily composed of senior citizens, consider
using the “Sleep and
Aging” presentation. |
