Influencing public policy related to sleep is one of the most
important things you can do for community sleep awareness. The
National Sleep Foundation is committed to an advocacy program
with the legislative and executive branches of the federal
government. Our mission is to promote public understanding
of sleep and sleep disorders, and to support education,
research and advocacy to improve public health and safety.
Begin by reading "Part II: NSF Resources Guide for Year-round
Community Sleep Awareness, Section Two: Advocating for
Sleep" in the printed toolkit or on this CD-ROM,
which includes examples of federal and state issues, case studies
of people who have been successful sleep advocates and tips
for working with lawmakers.
